Musk found a way to survive the Third World War
Earthlings will survive the Third World War in the event that humanity has habitable lunar and Martian stations. This was stated by the head of the US company SpaceX Elon Musk at the annual festival of technology and culture South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, reports Phys.org.
"We want to be sure that somewhere in another place there are enough samples of human civilization to restore it, and, perhaps, to shorten the duration of the Middle Ages. That's why, I think it's important to have a self-sustaining station," he said.
Musk added that the ideal option would be a station on Mars. "Because Mars is far from the Earth, and the likelihood that such a base will survive, more than for the base on the moon," - explained the businessman.
According to him, the stations on Mars and the base on the Moon "can help to revive life on Earth again," and it is important to organize them "before a possible third world war".
Also at South by Southwest, Musk said that the flight tests of the second stage of the reusable BFR (Big Falcon Rocket) space system, intended, in particular, for flights to Mars, will take place in the first half of 2019. This element, according to the plans of SpaceX, will in fact be a manned spacecraft installed on the first stage of the BFR.
